A pause from teaching Dear dancers, in these past 8 months so much has changed in our world. Business as usual has not delivered in 2020. We have all adapted in a multitude different ways. Most of us in the movement world have moved our work onto Zoom and other online platforms. I was surprised how well teaching online went and that it brought me a different kind of satisfaction. Those 4 months online in the first lockdown somehow kept the thread of connection with you all alive. Then in August I ended up in bed for 6 weeks with barely being able to put any weight on my foot after surgery from a critical infection I got from swimming in a river. This time in bed gave me a lot of time for reflection and to make some radical life changes. These changes have led me to leave my home and put my belongings into storage and to go on the road in a motor home with my partner. As we left the most of Europe went into a second lock down. We arrived in France the day before the country closed down. With this news we drove to our friends in the south west and spent the first 5 weeks of our journey living very simply. We had the good fortune of having a dance studio to move in and abundant nature around us. I used this time to begin the recovery journey of my foot. Slowly, slowly my confidence has grown in my bodies capacity to heal. The good news is I am dancing again. Now in December we have traveled to a beautiful Buddhist retreat center in the Dordogne area. My practice continues and deepens and I am rediscovering what it is to move. Very soon I will begin to share some of what I am discovering and will be offering some more online teachings. I am still available for online individual sessions.
